At the Oct. 28 City Council meeting, two students from PUSD were recognized as Student Mayors for the Day. Mayor Luna Gonzalez, a fifth-grade student from Wirtz Elementary, and Brian Ortiz, a fifth-grade student from Mokler Elementary were selected by their respective schools. This program, a partnership between the city of Paramount and PUSD, allows participating schools to select deserving fourth- or fifth-grade students to serve in this honorary role. As Student Mayors, Luna and Brian had the unique opportunity to sit alongside the mayor and help lead the City Council Meeting.
