During these difficult times, the City of Paramount is making a special effort to assist our senior population, which is a high-risk group when it comes to the coronavirus. Care packages are being delivered consisting of basic food items, toilet paper, and cleaning/sanitizing supplies (that are in short supply for purchase). Staff members from the Community Services and Recreation Department are conducting daily wellness checks with Paramount seniors that are registered in the Elderly Nutrition Program. These checks also turn into social calls for the seniors, which is important for their mental well-being. If a senior cannot be reached over a 12-hour period, an on-site visit is made to check on them; the Public Safety Department is contacted if phone or in-person contact cannot be made.
