Alec Avalos, an eighth-grader at Paramount Park School, raced in Texas on Dec.r 10 in the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship.

He raced a distance of 4K in the Boys 13-14 age group. 4K is equal to 2.49 miles.

Alec raced a time of 15 minutes and 18 seconds at the Southern California Championship.

Alec finished the Region 15 Championship with a time of 14 minutes and 55 seconds. He achieved a New Personal Record or PR for the 4K by 23 seconds.

Alec was ranked 218 out of 416 based on time.
He finished 129th. So he did better than the ranks.

Alec was determined to race even faster at Nationals as he races against the Top 13-14 runners from across the Nation.

At the start of the race, Alec was ranked number 218 out of 416 racers. He ended up finishing 129th overall with a time of 14 minutes and 43 seconds.

Not only did Alec set a New Personal Record for the 4K by 12 seconds, but he also finished 89 places better than his ranking.

Alec and his teammates plan on racing in Junior Olympics for Track this summer.
