At the April 8 City Council meeting, Paramount held its annual reorganization ceremony — a tradition where the City Council selects who will serve as mayor and vice mayor for the upcoming year. During the meeting Peggy Lemons (second from the right in the photo) was appointed as mayor, and Brenda Olmos (last one on the right) as vice mayor. In Paramount, residents vote for the City Councilmembers, and then each year the Council selects one of their members to serve as mayor and vice mayor, a common system for cities with a “council-manager” form of government.
