My Turn. Youth commission a good idea

Youth commission a good idea

The recent (August 2016) creation of the Paramount Youth commission is one of the best ideas to come out of our city government in a long time. According to the 2010 Census, more than 36 percent of our population is less than 19 years old. It would be foolish to ignore (roughly) one third of Paramount’s population. It’s easy for those of us who have a lot of gray hair to complain about the next generation. But if we take a moment to remember, our parents made the same complaints. Kids who cause trouble are actually a small minority. But to encourage the good ones, we have to listen to them.

The Youth Commission is a good start and long overdue.
