The Paramount City Council recognized National Preparedness Month at its Sept. 12 meeting. The city’s Public Safety Department suggests taking these basic steps to help keep your family and neighborhood safe.
Make an emergency kit – food, water, clothes, first aid kit, flashlight, and back-up power for your cell phone should be included.
Create a family communication plan – have an out-of-town contact to check in with and keep important phone numbers handy.
Designate a meeting point – in case you are separated, set a familiar and accessible place to gather.
Stay informed – sign up for emergency alerts from the City by texting “90723” to the number “888777” to receive disaster notifications.
