The Community Service Awards at Long Beach State recognize and encourage service by members of the CSULB family to the community where they live.

The awards are sponsored by the Academic Senate, the Staff Council, the Alumni Association, and the Associated Students.

This year’s student honoree is Paramount’s Miriam Mercado (Business Administration, Management). Her involvement in the community is deep and dedicated. She’s a former member of the City Youth Commission and current member of the Heritage Parade Committee, Paramount-Tepic Sister Cities, Lions Club, Friends of the Library, and is an intern for Assemblymember Anthony Rendon’s office.
