A partnership between Paramount Unified School District and Compton College is giving students new opportunities for post-secondary education, including two years of free tuition for full-time students and financial assistance for books and course supplies.
The Paramount Promise, which was approved by the District’s Governing Board of Education on June 10, provides students with a pathway to Compton College and, potentially, UC Irvine. Students will be offered guaranteed admission to Compton College, up to $400 for supplies and participation in a tablet/laptop program.
Additionally, Paramount seniors will be eligible to participate in support programs such as First Year Experience and Extended Opportunity Program and Services, which assists low-income and educationally disadvantaged students achieve their goals.
Full-time students at Compton College who meet the eligibility requirements of the Transfer Admissions Guarantee program will receive guaranteed student support services at UC Irvine as well. Support services at UC Irvine include a textbook and Chromebook loan program, scholarship for on-campus tutoring, free and discounted printing, academic success plans and more.
