Free service academy workshop set for Saturday, Sept. 28

From 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) will host a free informational workshop for high school students who live in the 40th Congressional District —and are interested in attending one of the five U.S. service academies – the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  The workshop will be held at Downey City Hall, 11111 Brookshire Avenue, Downey, CA 90241.

The city of Paramount is part of the 40th Congressional District.

The five service academies provide a free college education in return for five years of military service as a commissioned officer following graduation.  At this free workshop, students, parents and college advisors can learn about the academy requirements, including the application process for receiving a nomination from the congresswoman.  You will also be able to hear from service academy representatives, as well as current students at these academies.
