The unveiling of the first Tree City USA street sign on May 7 made Paramount’s selection by the Arbor Day Foundation official. A number of the signs will soon grace the City’s boulevard entry points. There are currently more than 8,000 trees in Paramount’s public spaces, which is about 1,800 per square mile. This doesn’t count the thousands more on private property, all of which paved the way for the City’s recent naming by the Foundation. From left at the sign reveal were Councilmember Peggy Lemons, Mayor Tom Hansen, Paramount’s Tree City mascot, Vice Mayor Daryl Hofmeyer, Councilmember Laurie Guillen, and Councilmember Diane J. Martinez.
